Expressive ArtsPainting as a way of healing and integration is a very ancient tradition. In today's modern world it is being rediscovered under various titles from art therapy to "Healing Art" It is the recognition that when we engage in art making we tap into areas within ourselves that have the ability to take us beyond the confines of our everyday reality. We connect to feelings, unconscious thoughts, and a centred place that again aligns us with our wholeness.Ruth was trained and pursued a career as an artist but felt like there was more. In a world of artistic egos and the craziness of a modern art market her search for more meaning led her to return to school in mid life to earn a Master's Degree in Expressive Arts Therapy. She began to paint in a way that felt more intuitive and expressive. Her art started to change and she repeatedly saw the power of art in the lives of those she worked with and her own life. Art has the ability to connect body, mind and soul including the collective unconscious which links us to myth and archetypes, universal sumbols and worlds that can only be imagined. Ruth continues her own painting, but also enjoys teaching and has a private practice working with clients wanting to pursue their own healing journey with art. Individual sessions can be arranged by appointment. Her office is 431 Brunswick in the Annex.
